Charles Fletcher Lummis was a man of many accomplishments which included walking from Ohio to California to become the editor of the Los Angeles Times, becoming the first male person to become a librarian, founding the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, and hand-building his house with the boulders from the Arroyo Seco despite his wealth. This book is dedicated to El Alisal, the name of the house, which mysteriously has a secret room in the attic.
